Snowdrop Cookies

  • 3 egg whites at room temperature 
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (or 1 teaspoon white vinegar) 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 3/4 cup sugar 
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional) 


  1. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. 
  2. Add cream of tartar and vanilla extract and beat until stiff peaks form. 
  3. Add sugar 2 tablespoons at a time, beating after each addition. 
  4. Fold in chocolate chips. 
  5. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased, foil-lined cookie sheet and bake at 250 degrees F for 25-30 minutes, or until pale cream in color. 
  6. Turn off oven, partially open oven door, and cool cookies in oven. 
  7. Remove from cookie sheet when completely cool.  Outside of cookie will be hard, inside will be slightly soft.
