Where To Relax Before And During Cancer Treatment At Premier Health

The cancer treatment journey can be challenging for patients and their loved ones. To make the process easier, Premier Health’s skilled and compassionate cancer care team offers you and your family these suggestions for relaxing in our cancer treatment facilities.

Suggestions If You Are Receiving Treatment

Miami Valley Hospital North, Cancer Center

Before treatment:

  • Relax in the multipurpose room or in waiting areas of the Cancer Center.
  • Read cancer literature in the literature room off the main lobby.
  • Find quiet time in the meditation room.

During treatment:

  • Our infusion area features seven patient recliners, each with cable TV. One of the recliners is in a private room. Curtains provide privacy for the others, but many patients prefer the curtains pulled back so they can socialize with one another. The family room atmosphere also offers seating for family and friends.
  • Family who prefer may wait in the nearby lobby.
  • Enjoy light snacks and warm blankets.
  • Take advantage of the retail pharmacy, which can fill prescriptions during your treatment.

  • Walk through the Garden of Hope outside the infusion area or take the walking path through the wooded area of campus.
  • Visit the Tree of Hope Room on the second floor. The room features an artistic, inspirational tree sculpture, offering a place to relax and meditate. The room’s windows offer a view of the campus grounds and woods.

During treatment:

  • The 14 private medical oncology treatment spaces and eight gynecologic oncology treatment spaces feature floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer restful views of the foliage, flowers, and sculptures of the Garden of Hope healing garden. The spaces accommodate family and friends.
  • Enjoy healthy snacks offered by volunteers.
  • Take part in other services offered in the infusion area, including massage therapy available four times a month, pet therapy dogs, art therapy scheduled twice a month by We Care Arts, and chaplains on their rounds.

Upper Valley Medical Center, Cancer Care Center

Before treatment:

  • View a selection of wigs and scarves from the Expressions of Hope Boutique. (Once a quarter American Cancer Society’s Look Good, Feel Better program helps patients at the Cancer Care Center with wigs and makeup, and Expressions of Hope comes once or twice a month to help patients.)

During treatment:

  • Receive treatment in one of 10 private rooms, furnished with seating for family members and friends and a TV and DVD player with a wide selection of movies.
