At Premier Health, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, whole-person care for our cancer patients at every stage of their journey. Our Cancer Prevention and Supportive Care Center is designed to offer personalized care and support, focusing not only on treatment but on the overall well-being of our patients. Whether it's preventing cancer, managing cancer risk, or improving quality of life during or after treatment, our team is here to guide you with expert care and compassion, close to home.

Prevention

Early intervention and lifestyle modifications can play a significant role in cancer prevention. Our prevention services are centered around understanding and managing your risk for cancer:

  • *Genetic Counseling: Our team of genetic counselors and Advanced Practice Providers work with patients and their families in understanding genetic predispositions and how they may influence cancer risk. We offer genetic testing, hereditary cancer risk assessments, and personalized prevention strategies, including dietary counseling, smoking cessation programs, exercise plans, and sleep consultations.
  • Cancer Risk Assessment: Our goal is to help prevent cancer from developing or recurring, when possible. Our team will provide a detailed risk assessment for hereditary cancer, alongside high-risk prevention strategies and surveillance recommendations, including ongoing screenings and prevention education.

Personalized Support Services

By combining genetic counseling and testing with a focus on your individual health needs, we offer comprehensive support services that improve your overall well-being throughout your entire cancer journey.

  • *Nutrition: A licensed clinical dietitian can help create an individualized nutrition plan, manage cancer-related side effects, and promote healthy eating for prevention and survivorship.
  • Financial Support: Our Oncology Financial Counselors help address financial concerns, manage out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, and navigate resources for the underinsured or uninsured.
  • Oncology Social Workers: Our team of social workers offers compassionate counseling and assistance with emotional, community, and financial support. We advocate for you and your loved ones, ensuring that you have access to the resources you need to manage life during and after cancer treatment.
  • Exercise and Wellness Programs: To better support your needs, we offer a variety of exercise and wellness programs designed to help you stay strong and supported throughout your cancer journey. We can also refer you to wellness programs throughout the community.
  • Support Groups: Our support groups are open to both patients and caregivers, offering a safe space to connect with others who understand the emotional and psychological challenges of cancer. Additionally, Community Wellness Clinics at Wright State University provide opportunities for patients to engage in wellness programs tailored to their needs.

Survivorship

Survivorship care focuses on supporting cancer patients from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Our program focuses on the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of cancer survivors, providing ongoing care throughout your lifetime.

  • Holistic Survivorship Consultation: Our Advanced Practice Providers work closely with your cancer team, primary care provider, and other specialists to create personalized plans that promote health and wellness.
  • Guidance for Recurring and Secondary Cancers: Surveillance for recurrence and prevention of new cancers are integrated into your ongoing care as recommended by National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guidelines. We also provide education on diet, exercise, and healthy lifestyle, as well as referrals to specialists when needed.

Cancer Palliative Care Services

Palliative care is an integral part of cancer care, focused on improving quality of life for patients, families, and caregivers. Our compassionate team helps ensure comfort and relief from pain and symptoms, both during and after treatment.

  • *Advance Care Planning: We guide you through advance care planning and offer support and advice to ensure your wishes are respected.
  • *Oncology Nurse Navigators: Our knowledgeable Oncology Nurse Navigators work closely with you and your care team to coordinate all aspects of treatment, offering support at every step.

Our Vision for Cancer Care

Our goal is to offer a seamless experience backed by a multidisciplinary team that cares for you—mind, body, and spirit.
