Lung Cancer Screening

Did you know...

  • Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and is the #1 cancer killer in the United States?
  • People who smoke are at the greatest risk of lung cancer?
  • Lung cancer does not always have noticeable symptoms?

At the Premier Health Cancer Institute, we know that early detection of lung cancer can provide the best opportunity for treatment and recovery. That is why Premier Health offers a lung cancer screening program designed to identify issues – even before symptoms are noticeable.

Who is Eligible

The lung cancer screening program is available only for people at high risk for lung cancer. This includes people between the ages of 55-77 who are current smokers or quit within the last 15 years and have smoked at least one pack per day for 30 years.

How the Screening Works

The lung cancer screening uses a low-dose CT scan, a proven method* of identifying lung cancer. Using this technology, our staff takes images of your lungs that are reviewed for indications of cancer. Results of the test are sent directly to your physician.

The lung cancer screening requires a physician referral. This test may be covered by insurance, please check with your benefits provider for details.

Talk to your doctor for a referral and to find out if you meet the criteria for this screening. If you do not have a primary care doctor, call CareFinders toll free at (866) 608-FIND (3463)(866) 608-FIND (3463).
