Atrium Medical Center

Atrium Medical Center has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award™. This is the first time Atrium has earned this distinction, which places the hospital among the top 5 percent of all short-term acute care hospitals evaluated by Healthgrades. The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for preventing serious patient injuries, avoiding preventable complications and mortalities, and eliminating harm throughout the hospital, reported Healthgrades.

Atrium medical staff and the City of Middletown Division of Fire are recipients of Ohio’s first Pediatric Save Award, given by the Ohio Emergency Medical Services for Children (Ohio EMSC) State Partnership Program. The award, recognizing clinical excellence by EMS responders and emergency departments during pediatric emergencies, was presented at the Ohio EMSC Conference on March 1 in Columbus. The teams were honored for the critical care they provided to twins born prematurely at home and their mother. Caregivers from Atrium’s Emergency Trauma Center, Family Birth Center, respiratory therapy department, and Tifany Nolan, MD of Hilltop OB/GYN, were recognized at a reception at Atrium.

Atrium celebrates two decades as Warren County and Middletown’s only verified Level III trauma center. In 2024, Atrium Trauma Center was accredited, and Atrium continues to be a lifeline for those facing life-threatening injuries. More than 1,000 patients receive care yearly at Atrium’s Level III trauma center. Many patients receive complete care at Atrium from initial assessment through rehabilitation.

When a patient’s injuries are severe enough to warrant a higher level of care, Atrium can rely on Premier Health’s trauma network, which includes Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton’s only adult Level I Trauma Center. Celebrations and community events throughout the year will mark the 20th anniversary of Atrium’s Level III trauma center.

Atrium welcomed Middletown Mayor Elizabeth Slamka on March 26 to tour our comprehensive facilities. Mayor Slamka had the opportunity to engage with our dedicated caregivers and see Atrium's Senior Emergency Center, Family Birth Center, and Level II cardiac catheterization lab, which plays a crucial role in the swift and effective treatment of heart attacks.

Atrium Medical Center Foundation recently received a donation from Donatos of Greater Dayton for more than $6,500 to support the Mobile Mammography Coach. This donation was garnered from a 17-store cookie sale campaign and will support Premier Health’s mission to provide mammogram services to communities across the region.

Miami Valley Hospital

Miami Valley Hospital South Wound and Hyperbaric Center recently received the 2023 Center of Distinction and Center of Excellence from Healogics.

Beavercreek Mayor Don Adams recently visited Miami Valley Hospital South, and Englewood Mayor Cathy McGrail visited Miami Valley Hospital North. Welcoming Mayor Adams and Mayor McGrail to tour the hospitals allowed Premier Health to showcase the high-quality health care services and compassionate care available. Such visits play a key role in enabling legislators to gain insight into the health care needs of their communities and the challenges encountered by health care providers. Additionally, elected officials witness firsthand the dedication of health care professionals and the ongoing investment in clinical excellence.

Premier Health again served as a corporate partner of the NCAA First Four Tournament and the Dayton Hoopla celebration.  This included the STEM Challenge; the Premier Sports Performance team led agility activities for the student participants, the Awards Celebration and the two-day game event.  This continues to be a major financial economic impact driver for the Dayton region.

Miami Valley Hospital Foundation supported the inaugural Lisa Lamping Smile Award presentation in the Miami Valley Hospital NICU. The Lisa Lamping Smile Award honors someone who brings a smile to their coworkers, patients, and family. Lisa, a long-time employee of the NICU and beloved neonatal nurse practitioner and RN for decades, passed away on Jan. 9, 2024. The first recipient was Melissa Allen, a PCT/HUC, whom Lisa chose before she passed away.
