MVH promotes longtime NICU medical director to lead Women & Infant Services

DAYTON, Ohio – Miami Valley Hospital is proud to announce the appointment of Marc Belcastro, DO, to the position of Vice President of Women & Infant Services, a newly created role designed to continue and build upon MVH’s history of excellence in women and infant services programing.

“Dr. Belcastro is an extraordinary clinician and servant leader,” said MVH President Mark Shaker. “With nearly 30 years of service to MVH and this community, he is well positioned to lead our program far into the next decade. We are fortunate to have a physician leader of his caliber as the head of our women’s services operation at MVH and Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville.”

Dr. Belcastro joined MVH in 1986 and is currently the hospital’s Chief of Staff and the medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a position he’s held since 2003.

In his new role, effective Monday, Aug. 24, Dr. Belcastro will be charged with developing clinical programs, recruiting specialists and promoting clinical quality and service to women and infants. He will transition out of clinical practice over the next year. Dr. C. Kirby Heritage, who joined MVH in 1987, will assume the role of NICU medical director Sept. 1.

Dr. Belcastro said he wants to make the birth of a child at MVH “the best experience a family can have.”

“We continue our dedication to providing delivery centers that are safe, warm, friendly, efficient, and memorable,” Dr. Belcastro said. “Our teams of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other support staff are proud and excited to deliver care in our centers.”

Dr. Belcastro is a 1981 graduate of the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He and his wife, Kim, live in Kettering and are the parents of three grown children and grandparents of five.
