MVH Executive Earns American College of Healthcare Executives Senior Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award

Dayton, Ohio, January 29, 2014 - Edward P. Syron, FACHE, FNAHQ, PhD, Director, Quality Innovation, Regulation and Accreditation for Premier Health at Miami Valley Hospital today received the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award.

The Senior Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award recognizes American College of Healthcare Executives members who are board certified in healthcare management and who have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE.

The award was bestowed on Syron by Craig Self, FACHE, American College of Healthcare Executives’ Regent for Southern Ohio. In presenting the award, Self noted “Because healthcare management ultimately affects the people in the communities we serve, it is critically important to recognize those individuals that set the standard of excellence promoted by our professional organization and their respective hospitals and health systems.”

Syron was honored by his peers for his leadership ability, innovative and creative management, executive capability in supporting his organization’s mission, promoting its growth and stature in the community, participation in local, state and provincial hospital and health association activities, participation in civic/community activities and projects, and his 35 years of volunteer service to the American College of Healthcare Executives.

“This is a great honor for a member of our leadership team” said Mark Shaker, President and CEO of Miami Valley Hospital. “Ed is a worthy recipient and this honor represents our ideals to improve the health of our community and to employee healthcare leaders at Premier Health focused on transforming the delivery of care and preparing future healthcare leaders to serve our region.”

The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) is an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. ACHE is known for its prestigious FACHE® credential, signifying board certification in healthcare management, and its educational programs including the annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership, which draws more than 4,000 participants each year. ACHE's established network of more than 80 chapters provides access to networking, education and career development at the local level.

In addition, ACHE is known for its magazine, Healthcare Executive, and its journals, the Journal of Healthcare Management and Frontiers of Health Services Management, as well as groundbreaking research, career development and public policy programs.

ACHE's publishing division, Health Administration Press, is one of the largest publishers of books and journals on all aspects of health services management including textbooks for use in college and university courses. Through such efforts, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
