Premier Health Partners Reacts to Ohio House Speakers Budget Proposal

April 15, 2009 - Premier Health Partners has learned Ohio House Speaker Armond Budish has a proposal for an alternative to how the state’s Medicaid program would be funded. Thomas Breitenbach, chief executive officer of Premier Health Partners applauds Budish’s proposal.

Specifics of Budish’s proposal would include:

  • Collectively reduce the statewide impact to hospitals from $411 million to approximately $127 million
  • Gives hospitals the ability to negotiate in good faith with Medicaid managed care companies by deleting the “non-contracting ” language
  • The 5% Medicaid reimbursement rate increase included in Governor Ted  Strickland’s proposal would be required to be passed through to hospitals.

“Speaker Budish should be commended for his leadership on this issue as it is a major step forward,” says Breitenbach.
