Premier Health Enrolls First U.S. Patient in Study of Potential Ovarian Cancer Treatment

DAYTON, Ohio (Sept. 2, 2026) – Premier Health has enrolled the first patient in the United States in an international clinical trial of a potential treatment for certain patients whose ovarian cancer has returned after chemotherapy.

The clinical trial, officially known as GOG-3134 or RAINFOL-04, is available at Miami Valley Hospital South. Michael Guy, MD, a Premier Health gynecologic oncologist, serves as the study’s local principal investigator.

Researchers are evaluating an investigational medicine called rinatabart sesutecan, or Rina-S, which is designed to target cancer cells. They want to learn whether adding Rina-S to the current treatment approach can help keep ovarian cancer under control longer. The study is also evaluating the medicine’s safety.

“This study is asking an important question: Can we build on a patient’s response to chemotherapy and help control the cancer longer?” Dr. Guy said. “We do not yet know the answer, but that is why carefully designed clinical trials matter. They allow us to evaluate potential treatments while giving eligible patients an opportunity to contribute to the future of ovarian cancer care.”
