Mary H. Boosalis

President and Chief Executive Officer, Premier Health

Mary H. Boosalis is the president and CEO of Premier Health. Joining the health system in 1986, Mary has served in progressively expanded leadership roles throughout her career.

Mary has led many innovative initiatives during her career, resulting in systemic and positive changes to health care in the entire region. Some examples include developing the campus visional strategy and execution for Miami Valley Hospital South, which continues to expand today and has garnered the largest annual market share growth for Premier Health; completion of the new vision for Miami Valley Hospital main campus and construction of the Heart and Vascular Tower, earning many design awards for positive delivery of care to patients; working with the City of Dayton and other business partners to improve neighborhoods around Miami Valley Hospital’s main campus; and serving as executive sponsor for the health system in developing and launching the Premier Health-Wright State University Neurosciences Research Institute, strengthening critical services to patients and attracting highly sought-after physicians in this field of medicine.

Mary earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing, magna cum laude, from California State University at Fresno and a master’s degree in health services administration, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University.

Michael J. Maiberger, FACHE

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Premier Health

Mike Maiberger is executive vice president and COO for Premier Health. He joined Premier Health in 1992. Prior to his current role, Mike served as chief value officer and chief strategy officer of Premier Health and as president of Upper Valley Medical Center.

Mike holds a master’s degree in health care administration from Xavier University and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association Board, and the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Board and Executive Committee. Mike is past chair of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce Board. He has been nationally published for his work in value-based strategy and services.

Donna L. Banks

System Vice President, Operations Support, Premier Health

Donna L. Banks is the system vice president for operations support and facilities at Premier Health. The work of the Operations Innovate team reaches throughout the health system with projects focused on process improvement, waste elimination, and reduced variation. Donna also works with the facility directors across the system to bring consistency and standardization to practices related to the plant operations of the hospitals and off-site locations. 

Previously, Donna served as vice president of operations at Atrium Medical Center and was part of the design and opening of the new hospital in 2007.

Donna started her career in health care at Middletown Hospital (now Atrium Medical Center) working as a unit secretary while in college. She graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and communications, and later completed her Master of Business Administration at Xavier University. Her other positions include leadership roles in patient access and patient financial services. One of her favorite ways to contribute as a leader for Premier Health is through mentoring (formal and informal) and through leading by example.

Keith Bricking, MD

President, Atrium Medical Center

Keith Bricking, MD, MBA, FAAEM, became the first physician to lead a Premier Health hospital with his appointment as president of Atrium Medical Center in January 2019.

In addition to his medical training and experience as an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Bricking has served in many leadership roles, including president of the Miami Valley Hospital medical staff and medical director of the Miami Valley Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine. He has an unwavering commitment to quality and compassionate care and values teamwork and collaboration.

Dr. Bricking earned a Masters of Business Administration, Healthcare Concentration, from Wright State University, Raj Soin College of Business; completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine; earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine; and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northern Kentucky University.  

Eloise Broner

Chief of Shared Services, Premier Health

Eloise Broner serves as the chief of shared services for Premier Health, a position she assumed in July 2018. With more than 25 years of health care leadership experience, she has held more than one leadership position at Premier Health. Prior to her current role, she was the president and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) since May 2012. She previously served as chief operating officer at the hospital. She was the chief purchasing officer for the health system and for 17 years was the vice president of operations at Miami Valley Hospital.

Eloise received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University and her master's degree in public health from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Eloise has served on numerous community and county boards and is currently a member of the City-Wide Board and the Montgomery County Human Service Levy Council. She is a recipient of the DBJ Power 50 Award, has received Dayton's Top 10 Women and Dayton's Top 10 African-American Women awards, and was a finalist for the Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

Lainie Dean

System Vice President, Strategic Business Development

Lainie Dean serves as system vice president, strategic business development for Premier Health. She re-joined the health system in 2019 and is responsible for system strategy, new business opportunities, partnerships and collaborations, provider recruitment and alignment, and real estate and strategic market development.

Lainie has more than 25 years of health care experience in hospital and medical group strategy, operations, financial management, strategic planning, physician recruitment, and physician practice development. She began her career at Good Samaritan Hospital as an administrative resident.

Lainie currently serves on the Chaminade Julienne High School Board. She also is an Advisory Board member to PQ Systems in Dayton and Aquabiliti, located in Nashville.

Lainie holds a master's degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing from the University of Cincinnati. She also a Green Belt in Six Sigma and Lean from Villanova University.

Diane Ewing

Chief Liaison to the President and CEO; Vice President, External Communications, Premier Health

Diane Ewing is chief liaison to the president and CEO of Premier Health, and vice president of external communications. Diane joined the organization in 2008 and has 30 years of experience in health care marketing, public relations, internal communications, and community relations.

Diane is a member of the Dayton Rotary Club and has served on numerous nonprofit boards. She serves on the boards of the Downtown Dayton Partnership; ThinkTV; Darke County Chamber Board; and the Coalition for a Healthy Darke County Board. She is a long-time member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development, serving on various national committees over the years.

Diane earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Maryville University, followed by graduate studies at Washington University, both in St. Louis.

Kathy Harper

System Vice President, Marketing and Communications

A results-driven leader with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and communications, product management, and development and strategic planning, Kathy currently serves as Premier Health’s system vice president of marketing and communications, a position that she has held since November 2018.

Immediately prior to this role, Kathy was vice president of operations at Good Samaritan North Health Center (now Miami Valley Hospital North) for two and a half years. She joined Good Samaritan Hospital in 2011 and has held various leadership roles within Premier Health, including director of marketing and communications for Good Samaritan Hospital and system director of service line marketing.

Before joining Premier Health, Kathy spent 17 years in leadership for Standard Register and Union Bank in the Los Angeles area, where she held positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president and senior product manager. She is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development and the American College of Healthcare Executives. She currently serves as board chair for the Northmont Area Chamber of Commerce and participates on the Business Advisory Council for Northmont City Schools. Kathy is a graduate of the University of Dayton.

Jennifer J. Hauler, DO, MBA

System Chief Medical Officer, Premier Health

A lifelong resident of Tipp City, Dr. Hauler is board-certified in family medicine and emergency medicine and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Master of Business Administration from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. She has been chief medical officer at Premier Health since 2016.

Dr. Hauler most recently served as the medical director of the Huber Heights emergency department, as well as the vice chair of family medicine at Grandview Hospital. She is certified as a paramedic instructor and is currently the medical director of the Troy and Vandalia Fire Departments. Dr. Hauler is the past president of the Dayton District Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as the current president of the Ohio Osteopathic Association.

Barbara A. Johnson

System Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer

Barbara A. Johnson is system vice president and chief human resource officer for Premier Health, and a member of the senior leadership team. Barbara has been with Premier Health since 2003.

Prior to leading human resources for the health system, Barbara was executive vice president and chief operating officer for Miami Valley Hospital. She also served as vice president of operations at both Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018).

Barbara is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Hospital Association, Ohio Hospital Association, National Association of Health Services Executives, the Society for Human Resources Management, and a member of the American Society for Health Care Human Resources Administration.

She is currently chair of the Ohio Diversity Council State Board of Directors and chair, The National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton (NCCJ). Barbara is a member of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance Advisory Group, The American Heart Society “Go Red for Women,” the Greater Dayton 5K Heart Walk/Run “Thousandaire Club,” and a member of the affiliate chapter of A Special Wish Foundation, Inc. Advisory Board.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Peggy Mark, Ph.D.

System Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Premier Health

Peggy Mark, Ph.D., is the chief nursing officer at Premier Health. Previously, Peggy served as chief learning officer for Premier Health, overseeing the organization's Learning Institute. Her responsibilities have spanned leadership development through clinical development, patient and family education, technical education, and library services. She has been very active in developing strong relationships with our many academic partners and represents Premier Health on various community boards.

Peggy began her nursing career at Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) and served in various nursing and leadership roles. Peggy received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wright State University, her Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton and her Ph.D. in leadership and change from Antioch University. Peggy opened the Center for Nursing Excellence at Good Samaritan Hospital and was later promoted to the role of administrator of the former Good Samaritan North Health Center, now Miami Valley Hospital North.

K. Duane Martin

Vice President, Corporate Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, Premier Health

Duane Martin joined Premier Health in 2004 as a staff attorney for Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018). He went on to serve as assistant general counsel for Premier Health and then director of legal services for Upper Valley Medical Center. In 2012, Duane transitioned into the role of corporate compliance officer for Premier Health.

Duane earned his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, his Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law, and his Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He is also certified in health care compliance and research compliance.

Tom Parker

Chief Experience Officer, Premier Health; President, Upper Valley Medical Center

Tom Parker serves as chief experience officer for Premier Health and president of Upper Valley Medical Center. He joined the organization in 1988.

Tom formerly served as chief executive officer of Upper Valley Medical Center. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer for the hospital, beginning his career with Dettmer Hospital.

Tom is presently a member of the board of trustees for Hospice of Miami County. He holds a Master of Science in business and industrial counseling from Wright State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.

Diane Pleiman, FACHE, MBA

President, Premier Physician Network

Diane Pleiman, FACHE, MBA, is the president of Premier Physician Network. Diane has been a leader within Premier Health for more than 20 years. She has direct financial and operational responsibility for one of Southwest Ohio’s largest networks of primary care and specialty medical practices, where more than 600 physicians and advanced practice providers care for patients in more than 125 locations.

Prior to this current position, Diane was the vice president and chief operating officer of Upper Valley Medical Center. She has extensive operational and strategic experience, having served as the system vice president for the neurosciences and oncology service line institutes, as well as vice president of operations at Miami Valley Hospital.

Diane received her Master of Business Administration from Wright State University. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on a variety of local boards.

Scott Shelton

Chief Financial Officer, Premier Health

Scott Shelton is the chief financial officer for Premier Health, a position he assumed in July 2018. He has been in health care for 31 years – all with Premier Health. Prior to his role as chief financial officer, he served as chief purchasing officer, chief financial officer for four of the five hospitals within Premier Health, and chief financial officer for the health system’s physician network.

In his 31 years with Premier Health, Scott has represented the system on boards that have managed core labs, dialysis centers, specialist companies, transplant programs, surgery centers, and hospital foundations.

Michael Uhl

President, Miami Valley Hospital

Mike Uhl, MSN, MBA, RN, CEN, FACHE, is the president of Miami Valley Hospital. Mike is a registered nurse with more than 20 years of health care experience in both acute hospitals and health care system environments. Throughout his career, Mike has worked in and consulted with health care organizations across the country on strategic financial and operational enhancements to improve both clinical and financial outcomes. Mike’s primary areas of expertise include innovative strategy development, hospital operational and financial improvements, process redesign, predictive modeling, and Lean Six Sigma applications in the health care setting.

Mike holds a Master of Business in health care administration from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in nursing administration from Xavier University, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati.

Geoff Walker

Chief Legal Officer, Premier Health

Geoff Walker is chief legal officer for Premier Health. Geoff has practiced law for 32 years, 26 of which have been with Premier Health, beginning in 1992. Prior to his current position, Geoff served as counsel for Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018), and later as counsel for Premier Physician Network and system service lines.

Geoff graduated from Cedarville University in 1982 and the University of Dayton School of Law in 1986. Prior to working with Premier Health, Geoff practiced as a litigator in one of Dayton’s local law firms. He has served on numerous community boards over the years, including serving as president of the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project, and continues to serve local charitable agencies by providing free legal assistance to their boards.
