Injury Prevention

Preventing injuries can be a key part of maintaining overall health. Educating yourself about how to safely avoid or manage car crashes, violence, falls, biking accidents and other injuries is a great way to prevent injury, and our injury prevention and SLIP programs can help with that.

The Injury Prevention Center

The Injury Prevention Center of Greater Dayton provides injury awareness, information, and education. Our mission is to reduce preventable injuries through program development and implementation, education, research, advocacy, and collaboration with existing programs.

The Injury Prevention Center educates the community on topics of injury and trauma including teen motor vehicle crashes, violence, elderly falls, wheeled activities such as biking, and other activities of risk.

Offered through:  Miami Valley Hospital

SLIP Program

More than half of all patients admitted to the hospital with traumatic injuries are related to elderly falls. Because of this, it is the goal of the Senior Lifestyles & Injury Prevention (SLIP) Program to prevent falls before they happen. Creating awareness, providing education and teaching preventative measures are the first steps in making an impact on a nationwide burden.

Offered through: Atrium Medical Center
