Education And Support

Premier Health’s Trauma Services EMS Center of Excellence, and CareFlight Air and Mobile Services provide extensive emergency medicine and trauma education for EMTs (emergency medical technicians), nurses, and emergency doctors, to enhance the immediate care they provide to our community.

We also provide:

  • Trauma training for doctors and nurses at hospitals that don't offer definitive trauma care
  • Continuing education for EMS (emergency medical service) personnel at our EMS Center of Excellence
  • Community outreach for local EMS and the public

Our standardized approach to trauma care provides patients with optimal care, since there's no question of what to do next. Care providers learn to recognize trauma cases, apply skills to stabilize patients, and refer them to appropriate care.

Trauma Education Programs

Our trauma education programs include:

Advanced Trauma Life Support Course. Developed by the American College of Surgeons, this workshop is offered four times a year and teaches doctors, nurses, medical residents, and EMTs to assess and manage trauma cases through:

  • Practical lectures
  • Skill stations

The Trauma Nurse Core Course. This 16-hour course and an 8-hour re-certification course is offered four times a year and at other times at partner hospitals by request. Both use a standardized curriculum. The course is for:

  • Trauma and emergency nurses with at least six months of experience
  • Nurses with little emergency experience who want knowledge and hands-on experience at psychomotor skill stations

All participants must be registered nurses. Attendees get CECHs (continuing education contact hours) for attending.
