CareFlight Education And Outreach

To give our region the best emergency care available, CareFlight focuses on building teamwork with area EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies, and continually provides education on the latest advances in medical care and transport.

CareFlight offers in-depth, full-spectrum training, continuing education, and ride-along opportunities. CareFlight nurses and paramedics educate hospitals, emergency personnel, fire and EMS departments by providing:

  • Landing zone set-up trainings
  • Personal and patient safety training
  • Certification for local paramedics

This year's Fall Ride-Along will be October 1 through November 25. You will also have an opportunity to receive up to four hours of EMS continuing education. To ride along, you must be a:

  • Physician
  • Physician assistant
  • RN
  • Nurse practitioner
  • EMT or paramedic

Your ride-along experience is up to two eight-hour shifts with the CareFlight crew. You will go on calls, review equipment and procedures, and get to know the staff better. This is an observation-only experience and will not be providing patient care.

To register for the ride-along, please send the registration form to [email protected] and a person from the ride-along committee will call you to schedule your days with us. We look forward to spending the day with you!

CareFlight On the Farm and On the Lake

CareFlight and Miami Valley Hospital’s Level I trauma center present these outreach programs in different counties across the region to educate EMS and pre-hospital care providers.

Our On the Farm and On the Lake programs focus specifically on farming and water accidents. Using lectures, hands-on simulations and a panel discussion, participants learn:

  • How to manage farm/lake accidents
  • The extrication tools required
  • Priorities of patient care

A trauma surgeon also leads a trauma case review, featuring an actual trauma cases transported from the host county to Miami Valley Hospital’s Level I trauma center. This further enhances the educational experience.

Participants receive six to eight continuing education hours related to a variety of trauma topics. Contact:
