Mother and Infant Care

Fidelity Health Care’s mother and infant care team understands the changes and challenges that come with having a new baby at home, and we offer services for mother, baby, and their families.

Our home health care nurse visits are provided by registered nurses who are trained in obstetrics and infant care. Home visits offer a complete assessment of mom and baby. We also provide comprehensive and educational instructions about correct care, and we cover the signs and symptoms of potential health issues during the visit. Newborn screenings and bilirubin levels are drawn as needed, depending on the physician's orders. Bilirubin levels can now be completed with new meters that do not require a needle stick to the infant.

Who Needs Mother And Infant Care?

You can benefit from home health care nurse visits if:

  • You have a high-risk pregnancy
  • You need help receiving medication, such as progesterone injections
  • You need intravenous (IV) fluids
  • You need a postpartum mother-baby assessment and education
  • Your baby needs phototherapy for jaundice
  • Your baby was discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

What Services Do We Provide?

  • Follow-up visits for infants discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
  • Follow-up visits post-delivery and post-discharge
  • Phototherapy light setup, if ordered by the physician
  • Wound monitoring for C-section patients who need it
  • Non-invasive bilirubin testing available
  • Hyperemesis infusion therapy (for nausea and vomiting)

Mother and infant home visits typically require only one visit, except for phototherapy, which may require repeat laboratory draws, depending on the doctor's orders.
