COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is most often seen in the form of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. It causes shortness of breath, wheezing, and a cough that produces more mucus than usual.

To treat your COPD, and to help keep you comfortable at home and working toward your return to full independence, a Fidelity Health Care respiratory therapist will visit you to learn about your needs and help you find relief from your symptoms.

Who Will Come To Your Home?

Your COPD treatment will be managed by a nurse working closely with your doctor. Your treatment team could include one of more of the following professionals:

What Services Do We Provide?

Working alongside the Fidelity Health Care nursing team, the respiratory therapist will:

  • Talk with you about your condition and any related problems or concerns you might be having
  • Assess your physical condition, particularly as it relates to your breathing problems, and possibly suggest further testing
  • Suggest equipment or treatment options that can help provide relief for your breathing difficulties
  • The therapist will make sure you understand the disease process underlying your COPD. The therapist will also teach you, and any family members or others involved in your care, about your treatments and medications and how to best manage your symptoms.
