Ceremony to honor organ and tissue donors

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (April 17, 2017): April is National Donate Life Month, and Atrium Medical Center in conjunction with LifeCenter Organ Donor Network will host Wednesday, April 19, 2017, a Donate Life flag raising ceremony open to the public in honor of those who have given or received a life-saving organ or tissue donation.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, starting in the main lobby and then moving outside of the Middletown hospital’s main entrance. Then, visitors can stop by the LifeCenter display near Atrium Café from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to learn more about organ donation.

Locally, more than 600 people are on the waiting list for an organ transplant and nationally, more than 119,000 people are on the waiting list. An average 22 people die every day waiting for a transplant in the U.S., according to LifeCenter and Donate Life America.
