In 2015, Miami Valley Hospital earned certification as a The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. As a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Miami Valley Hospital meets The Joint Commission’s high standards for complex stroke care. Miami Valley Hospital is the first Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in the greater Dayton region.

Comprehensive Stroke Outcomes for Carotid Arterial Stenting and Carotid Endarterectomy Procedures

Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS)

A procedure where a physician uses a stent (metal-mesh tube) and a small balloon to assist in the expansion/repair of a narrowed artery in the neck.

CAS Complications

Number of patients who had a complication due to an elective CAS procedure.
