Premier Health Partners to Launch Luke Kennard Overnight Basketball Camp

(May 22, 2018) - Franklin High School graduate and professional basketball player Luke Kennard returned to his hometown community Tuesday to announce a new partnership to expand a summer basketball camp for area youth.

Premier Health is proud to present The Luke Kennard Overnight Basketball Camp, which will be hosted by Win The Next One (WTNO).

When selecting a location for a basketball camp, it was important to hold the camp close to home, where local kids grew up watching him play, Kennard said.

“Not only are the campers going to learn a lot of basketball skills and lessons from the coaches and me personally, they are going to learn life lessons I’ve experienced as a basketball player as well,” Kennard said.

The camp will be held July 20 to 22, and is open to boys and girls entering fourth to seventh grade during the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. For more information, visit http://wtnobasketball.com/. To register, visit http://www.ultracamp.com/info/sessiondetail.aspx?idCamp=699&campCode=cbr&idSession=192055

With the support of Premier Health and Kennard, the camp can provide up to 200 participants two nights and three days’ worth of a professional basketball camp experience, said Brian Bales, director of the camp’s hosting organization, WTNO.

"We are very excited about our partnership with Premier Health and the opportunity to host the First Annual Luke Kennard Overnight Basketball Camp at Camp Chautauqua. Southwest Ohio has a special place in Luke's heart and he is looking forward to helping run his first camp back home. It will be a fun-filled weekend of basketball and life lessons,” Bales said.

Throughout the camp, Luke Kennard and WTNO coaches will offer tips and hands-on instruction, including lectures, fundamental basketball skills stations, contests, and games in a high-energy, fun, and positive environment. Campers will be placed in small groups by age to ensure each child gets maximum instruction. The camp will be staffed by some of Southwest Ohio’s top high school basketball coaches and Premier Health athletic trainers.

Atrium Medical Center, a member of Premier Health and Warren County’s only full-service hospital, offers a full continuum of health care services for athletes, including immediate assistance on the field and court by Premier’s athletic trainers; concussion prevention, evaluation, and treatment; physical therapy services close to home; orthopedic surgery when necessary; and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services to help our patients get back to what they love.

“Our goal is to keep athletes in the game,” said Michael Uhl, president of Atrium. “We are excited to partner with a high-caliber athlete such as Luke, and we’re appreciative that he’s helping grow the game of basketball in the community he grew up in. Being involved with such a high-quality sporting event furthers our mission of improving the health of the communities we serve and is a natural extension of our school partnership initiative on sports medicine.”
