Breast Cancer Awareness Event Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Atrium Medical Center’s Mobile Mammography Service

Mobile MammoMIDDLETOWN, Ohio (September 30, 2016) - Atrium Medical Center is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the launch of its mobile mammography service with a special breast cancer awareness event open to the public on October 4.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, visit Atrium to see Huber Heights’ Pink Ribbon Firefighters and their pink fire truck, which will be on campus to raise money for Pink Ribbon Girls. Learn more about the regional fire department’s mission at http://pinkribbonfirefighters.org/#homeOff Site Icon

During that time, employees and the public are invited to enjoy food trucks Adena’s Beefstroll and El Meson for lunch. Five percent of food truck proceeds will benefit Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs Endowment for women’s health managed by Atrium Medical Center Foundation. It helps women who can’t afford their mammogram screenings.

Also that day, Atrium Medical Center’s mobile mammography coach will be parked on-site and open for tours between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The mobile mammography coach is also accepting appointments Oct. 4 at Atrium for screening mammograms from 8 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. Equipped with advanced imaging equipment, the coach offers traditional 2D and Genius ™3D Mammography™ technology to detect breast cancer. Schedule your appointment by calling 844-453-4199.

In the first year of operations, the mobile mammography service has conducted approximately 1,500 screening mammograms at locations throughout Greater Cincinnati and Dayton.

Getting a mammogram in the mobile coach is easy and convenient. Women make an appointment and visit the easy-to-access coach at a location near them. For more information about the process and locations, visit premierhealth.com/mammo

“We have underserved areas in our community where women might have difficulty finding time or traveling to a health facility for screenings or affording screenings. However, the mobile mammography coach allows us to bring the service closer to more people and provide cost assistance,” said Carol Turner, president and chief executive officer of Atrium Medical Center.

“Early detection is key to the treatment of breast cancer. Our mobile coach gives Atrium Medical Center the ability to offer convenient mammograms and raise awareness to the importance of mammograms, making it more likely to help patients catch the disease early,” Turner said.

Hospital employees are also encouraged to wear pink Oct. 4 to show support for the cause.

Atrium Medical Center is a full-service hospital and Level III Trauma Center located at One Medical Center Drive, Middletown, OH, 45005. The hospital’s campus is conveniently situated along the Interstate 75 corridor at exit 32 between Cincinnati and Dayton. The hospital is the city of Middletown’s second largest employer of more than 1,500 people in full-time, part-time and on-call positions. Atrium is operated by the Dayton-based nonprofit Premier Health system.
