Mobile Mammography Now Available in Southwest Ohio

Premier Health Makes Annual Screening More Convenient to Fight Breast Cancer

DAYTON, Ohio (August 25, 2015) – Premier Health is making it easier for busy women to get their annual screening mammogram with a new mobile mammography coach that travels to businesses and public venues like schools, churches and events throughout southwest Ohio. Equipped with advanced imaging technology, the coach offers traditional 2-dimensional and new 3-dimensional mammography to detect breast cancer. Premier Health is the first in Dayton to offer 3-D mammography at its breast centers and the only Dayton-based health system to offer mobile mammography.

Up to 40 percent of women age 40 and over in southwest Ohio are not getting mammograms now, according to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Greater Cincinnati Affiliate. “By taking our new mobile coach to locations close to where women live and work, Premier Health hopes to encourage more women to get this essential screening test,” says James Pancoast, Premier Health president and CEO.

Getting a mammogram in the mobile coach is easy and convenient. Women make an appointment and visit the easy-to-access coach at a location near them. No doctor’s order is needed for a screening mammogram for women age 40 and older.

“Nothing is better — nothing! — than a mammogram for detecting breast cancer as early as possible, when it’s most treatable. Studies show the more convenient it is to get a mammogram, the more likely women are to schedule one,” says Hugh Hawkins, MD, medical director, Atrium Medical Center’s Wilbur and Mary Jean Cohen Women’s Center.

The self-contained, 37-foot-long mobile coach, which is owned and operated by Atrium Medical Center, is comfortable and upscale, with a reception area, private dressing rooms and mammography suite. It’s staffed by an all-female team. The mobile mammography coach was made possible by generous donors to Atrium Medical Center Foundation.

Premier Health welcomes partnerships with area businesses and event organizers to bring the mobile mammography coach to their locations in the community. For more information, please call (513) 705-4794(513) 705-4794 or visit premierhealth.com/mammo.

Women can schedule their mammogram on the mobile coach by calling (844) 453-4199(844) 453-4199. More information about the process and coach locations is available at premierhealth.com/mammo.
