Premier Health Celebrates Opening of Emergency Center in Mason with Community Open Houses, Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, and Grand Opening

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (April 15, 2015) – Premier Health will celebrate the opening of Atrium Health Center Mason with two community open houses, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a grand opening. All events will be held at the facility, 7450 Mason-Montgomery Road in Mason. The community open houses will take place on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, and on Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening will take place on Monday, April 13, at 11 a.m.

The open houses are open to the public, and will feature activities for the entire family: tours of the facility, exploration of the mobile intensive care unit, meet and greet with the physicians and staff, face painting, a magician, and free health screenings, including cholesterol, glucose (no fasting), blood pressure, and hemoglobin A1C. The first 100 families to arrive each day will receive a free emergency car kit (one per family).

The ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening are by invitation only. Speakers will include James R. Pancoast, president and CEO, Premier Health; R. Daniel Sadlier, chairman, Premier Health Board of Trustees; Carol J. Turner, president and CEO, Atrium Medical Center; Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman, chief medical officer, Atrium Medical Center; and Dr. Darin Pangalangan, medical director, Atrium Health Center Mason Emergency Center.

Atrium Health Center Mason will be open for patients on Tuesday, April 14. The 44,000 square-foot center will offer 24-hour emergency care and feature physician offices, laboratory, medical imaging, cardiology, occupational medicine, pulmonology, maternal fetal medicine, 3D mammography, bone density, primary care, and OB/GYN services. The center will house 13 emergency beds, staffed by board-certified physicians from Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton’s only Level I trauma center; and will utilize the telestroke network for faster treatment of patients experiencing a stroke. If hospitalization is needed, transportation will be provided to Atrium Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital, or a hospital best-suited to the patient’s needs.

Carol J. Turner, president and CEO of Atrium Medical Center, said “the free-standing emergency center will serve dual purposes: to provide expanded, comprehensive services to our patients, and to foster Premier Health’s mission to build healthier communities. It’s an initiative that will allow us to further partner with the Mason community, and to introduce Premier Health’s considerable expertise in the emergency care arena to the I-71 corridor.”

Atrium Health Center Mason will complement Premier Health services that are currently in place in the Mason area, which include primary care, occupational medicine, physical therapy, lab, and imaging services.
