Our Team

The Miami Valley Hospital Regional Adult Burn Center team brings years of experience, compassion, and knowledge to provide comprehensive patient care. Our burn center specialists have extensive experience managing the unique challenges that burn patients and their families face. We use a multidisciplinary approach in the care of burn-injured patients. Our team meets regularly to discuss individual cases, working together to create plans of care that will lead to successful outcomes.

Credentialed Surgeons

Guiding the team are a general surgeon and a plastic surgeon experienced in the care of patients with burn injuries. Burn care surgeons are licensed surgeons with board certification by the American Board of Surgery or the American Board of Plastic Surgery. They have active privileges in the Miami Valley Hospital Department of Surgery, and are credentialed for burn care. These surgeons have completed a one-year fellowship in burn care, or have experience in the care of patients with burn injuries for two or more of the past five years. Our surgeons have more than 35 years of combined experience.

Advanced Practice Providers

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants partner with our physicians in the management of burn-injured patients. These health care providers may assist the physician in daily in-patient rounds, surgery, and the management of outpatient visits.

Clinical nurse specialists, nurse manager, and clinical nurses are all involved in the care of patients within the burn center. Nurses provide 24-hour care for patients within the in-patient unit. This care focuses on the patient’s physiological, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being.

Physical therapists, occupational therapists, and hand therapists provide care to burn-injured patients to maintain optimal mobility and restore deficits in function and mobility.

The clinical dietitian coordinates all activities related to nutrition care of patients, completes an analysis of nutrition status, and develops and implements a program of education specific to the patient’s needs.
