Stem Cell Therapy Repairs Tissue and Relieves Pain

Stem cells are part of your body’s natural repair process. You have them in your bone marrow and in your fat cells. When they are placed at the site of damaged tissue, these powerful stem cells can activate to become the healthy new cells your body needs.

Now the specialists at Premier Orthopedics offer no-surgery stem cell therapy to help your body heal damage and relieve pain from arthritis, aging and injuries to joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles – using your own stem cells.

No Surgery Needed

Stem cell therapy can offer long-lasting pain relief without surgery. We perform stem cell therapy as an outpatient procedure. This usually involves injections over three office visits.

Stem cell therapy is done in a doctor’s office by first conducting a bone marrow aspiration, which is a procedure that removes stem cells from the hipbone through a long needle. A special process helps isolate the needed cells by using a centrifuge. Those cells are then delivered to the area of injury – such as an arthritic knee – through ultrasound guidance. The stem cells activate to create healthy new tissue to replace the damaged bone, cartilage, ligament, tendon or muscle.

Patients are limited in their activity level for the first week after the procedure to allow the process to work and to avoid unnecessary inflammation. Individuals can return to their normal activity level about seven days after the procedure, and will begin therapy a week after that. Most patients see improvement within six to eight weeks after treatment.

Is Stem Cell Therapy for You?

From acute injuries to damage from chronic wear and tear or disease, stem cell therapy helps your body heal itself. That ability makes it an important therapy option for everyone from high-performance athletes to anyone who wants to stay active.

Stem cell therapy can help heal ligament, tendon or muscle injuries such as in the rotator cuff or Achilles tendon. It also helps repair chronic, degenerative arthritis where cartilage in the joint is worn away.

If you suffer from osteoarthritis or pain in your joints or lower back, stem cell therapy may offer a non-invasive alternative to relieve your pain and get you moving again.

While every patient’s experience will be different, stem cell therapy has the potential to delay or avoid the need for joint replacement.

How is Stem Cell Therapy Different from Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy are both forms of regenerative medicine that work with your body’s natural healing ability. Growth factors in PRP stimulate your body’s existing repair cells to work harder. Stem cell therapy boosts your body’s repair processes, too, and also introduces new cells to replace the damaged tissue.

An Investment in Your Mobility

While stem cell therapy is not presently covered by insurance plans, it offers a cost-effective alternative compared with surgery to repair tissue, relieve pain and get you back in motion.
