Premier Health to Host Community Open House for Austin Boulevard Emergency Center

DAYTON, Ohio (September 17, 2017) – The public can preview Miami Valley Hospital’s new free-standing emergency center in Miamisburg during a community open house from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, Sept. 23.

With quick access from Interstate 75, the Austin Boulevard Emergency Center will provide full-service, 24-hour emergency care to patients with minor to severe injuries and conditions when it opens Monday, Sept. 24.

Free flu vaccines will be available during the open house while supplies last. Community members also can tour the emergency center and meet physicians and staff. The event will feature activities for kids, refreshments and snacks, giveaways and raffle prizes, pet therapy, and more. For event parking and shuttle service: from I-75, head west on Austin Boulevard and turn right at Austin West Boulevard. Follow “Event Parking” signs. The address of the new Austin Boulevard Emergency Center is 300 Austin West Blvd., in Miamisburg.

"We are pleased to offer emergency care to Miamisburg and surrounding communities, and to expand access to Miami Valley Hospital – the region's only Level I Trauma Center," said Mike Maiberger, president of Miami Valley Hospital and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Premier Health. "Increasing access to emergency and preventive care is very much in line with our mission to improve the health of the communities that we serve.”

The Austin Boulevard Emergency Center will feature 12 emergency beds, including two trauma bays. It will be staffed by board certified emergency medicine physicians from Miami Valley Hospital. Additional services will include access to Premier Health’s TeleStroke Network for faster access to stroke treatment; lab and imaging services, including CT and X-ray; CareFlight Air and Mobile Services transportation if hospitalization is needed; and a community room with audio-visual capabilities that community members can reserve for meetings or training sessions. A seamless ambulance drop-off point will provide EMS agencies with quick access into and out of the facility when transporting patients.

"The same emergency team that staffs all Miami Valley Hospital emergency departments is prepared to support the new Austin Boulevard Emergency Center,” said Darin Pangalangan, MD, chair of the Premier Health Emergency and Trauma Institute. “The center will serve as a rapid access point when every minute counts, and its integrated connection to all specialty services provided within the Premier Health system truly does take care to a higher level in Miamisburg.”
