Chronic pain in your joints or muscles can be a sign of a rheumatic disease. The pain typically is caused by wear and tear, swelling, or by your immune system attacking parts of your body.

Our rheumatologists specialize in identifying and treating dozens of rheumatic diseases, including:

Diagnosing Rheumatic Disease

Effective treatment begins with an accurate diagnosis. Our fellowship-trained rheumatologists will carefully listen as you describe your symptoms. After a thorough exam, they’ll use lab tests or imaging tests (such as X-ray) to confirm your diagnosis.

Treating Rheumatic Disease

We understand the challenges of living with a chronic, rheumatic disease. Our treatment goal is to help you achieve optimal physical and mental health.

In most instances, medication is recommended to reduce pain and inflammation. If your treatment includes infusion therapy (medication delivered into your vein), most of our locations can provide this service onsite, allowing you to avoid a trip to the hospital. Located within your doctor’s office, your therapy will be convenient and comfortable for you and those who may accompany you.

Diet, exercise, and counseling may also be part of your recommended treatment plan. If so, we can guide you to a Premier Health specialist who can help you meet your goals.

In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to repair or replace a joint. We collaborate with surgeons and other specialists to ensure you get the proper treatment and follow-up care if surgery is recommended.
