Dietetic Internship Program Application Requirements

  • A selection committee reviews and ranks applicants on the basis of their application packet (in the DICAS). Interviews are not conducted.

  • You must have a bachelor's degree or advanced degree from a US regionally accredited college or university, or a foreign equivalent. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Course work must meet the current academic requirements of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Candidates who have received degrees and DPD verification statements five or more years prior to applying for internship must show proof of updated knowledge and skill in dietetics. Examples include documentation of course work in dietetics or related area, completion of continuing education, attendance at professional meetings, work experience, etc.
  • Selection of interns for appointment to the program is based on scholastic performance; honors and extracurricular activities; demonstrated leadership; paid and volunteer work experience; potential for successful completion of program; letters of reference; and a personal statement.
  • An overall grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required. A DPD, GPA of at least 3.0 is required.
  • Prior to admission to the program, a final transcript and the ACEND form for Verification of Completion of ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics for Membership and Eligibility for the Registration Examination for Dietitians must be submitted.
  • A nonrefundable application fee of $100. Make check payable to Miami Valley Hospital Dietetic Internship and postmarked no later than February 15, 2018.
  • Dietetic interns will be appointed on a nondiscriminatory basis, with opportunities available to all regardless of race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, national origin, ancestry, veteran's status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, genetic information or other protected characteristics. 
  • Interns are not classified as employees, do not receive a stipend, and therefore, are not covered by Worker's Compensation.
  • Applicants must also register online for computer matching at and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 pm Central Time on February 15, 2018.
