Wellness, Learning and Collaboration
The following are informational updates from across Premier Health that you might find of interest:
Patient Experience
Premier Health continues to deliver education, screenings, and wellness programs directly to patients and the community:
- Healthy Family Day at Countryside YMCA in Lebanon featured cardiovascular, orthopedic, cancer, and women’s health education. The mobile mammography unit provided on-site breast cancer screenings.
- Walk With A Doc in Middletown, led by Mouhammad Abdallah, MD, offered heart health education during a community walk at the Middletown Area Family YMCA.
- The Springboro Wellness Workshop focused on heart failure education with Lindsey Neese, CHF, CNS, sharing practical strategies for disease management.
- Premier Community Health participated in a Breast Density Month event hosted by the Pink Eraser Project in Cincinnati, sharing information on the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP). Premier serves as the Southwest Regional Enrollment Agency for the BCCP for the Ohio Department of Health.
- Premier Health supported the Dayton American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women luncheon, raising awareness for heart health and promoting community engagement.
Workforce Development
Premier Health strengthened pathways for future health care professionals through educational initiatives:
- MedQuest at Miami Valley Hospital welcomed nearly 60 Dayton Public Schools students for hands-on learning in imaging, surgical technology, respiratory therapy, and nursing. Workforce development specialists also introduced students to career opportunities across Premier Health.
- The Dayton Public Schools Student Senate visited Miami Valley Hospital North, where Amber Johnson, PT, DPT, ATC, Cert. SMT, led an interactive session on sports and pelvic health physical therapy for student leaders representing each high school in the district.
Partnerships & Foundations
Premier Health continues to expand community partnerships and philanthropic support:
- Foundations contributed to the CareFlight campaign:
- Atrium Medical Center Foundation received a $400,000 pledge from the City of Middletown.
- AES Ohio Foundation awarded a $50,000 grant toward a new CareFlight aircraft.
- Upper Valley Medical Center Foundation received a $25,000 gift from Park National Bank in Piqua to support the CareFlight campaign and the upcoming Care in the Air Gala.
- A limited number of tickets remain for the Care in the Air Gala on April 24 at Wright Bros. Aero Hangar, Dayton International Airport, benefiting a new CareFlight AW169 helicopter.
- Premier Health participated in the West Central Ohio Medical Response & Surge Exercise (MRSE) and the regional “Day After” Tabletop Exercise (TTX), refining emergency response, communication strategies, and health care surge capabilities.
- Premier Health leaders attended the Troy Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner (UVMC named Large Business of the Year) and the Dayton Development Coalition annual meeting.
