At Premier Health, we remain deeply committed to advancing exceptional patient care while building strong partnerships that serve our communities. A new collaboration between Premier Health and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine reflects this commitment through an important new role designed to support military members, veterans, and their families.

Jason Massengill, MD, recently retired U.S. Air Force colonel, has been appointed Associate Dean for Military and Veterans Affairs and Assistant Designated Institutional Official at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, as well as System Liaison for Military and Veterans Affairs at Premier Health. His appointment, was effective August 1, represents a unique opportunity to align education, clinical care, and community partnership with the needs of those who have served our country.

In this dual capacity, Dr. Massengill will serve as a vital bridge between Wright State, Premier Health, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center, local guard and reserve units, and the broader military and veteran community. His work will also help sustain the highest standards of ACGME accreditation for graduate medical education programs, ensuring future physicians are prepared to deliver excellent care in a complex and diverse health care environment.

Dr. Massengill brings to this role extensive experience in patient care, medical education, and leadership. His decorated career in the Air Force is complemented by his continued dedication to clinical practice at Premier OB/GYN – Sugar Camp. In addition, he will actively support Premier Health’s Veterans Caregiver Resource Group, VERG, working alongside executive sponsors to deepen connections and resources for patients, employees, and families.

By strengthening ties with military and veteran populations, this role advances Premier Health’s strategic priorities: enhancing the patient experience, developing a skilled and compassionate workforce, and fostering partnerships that improve community health. Dr. Massengill’s leadership exemplifies how Premier Health integrates clinical excellence, education, and innovation to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

As we move forward, this initiative reflects a broader vision of ensuring that military members, veterans, and their families have access to high-quality, compassionate care—while also enriching the training of tomorrow’s physicians. I’d encourage you to reach out to Dr. Massengill and welcome him to the team!
