New Clinical Support Tools

Walter A. Reiling III, MDP-W-EMS62057-Via_MandyThis month, Premier Health is introducing two new clinical support tools available systemwide to support clinical decision-making and enhance patient care.

The first is UpToDate Expert AI. Many providers already rely on UpToDate for timely, evidence-based clinical information and may also be familiar with emerging AI reference tools. Expert AI combines these capabilities by integrating trusted UpToDate clinical content with advanced artificial intelligence in a platform that meets Premier Health’s technology, security, and privacy standards.

At this time, UpToDate Expert AI is the only AI clinical reference tool approved by the Premier Health AI Governance Committee. To ensure compliance with organizational standards for data security and patient privacy, access to other AI reference tools may be restricted.

Following strong feedback from pilot participants, UpToDate Expert AI is now available to all Premier Health providers with UpToDate access.

Please note that you must have a personal UpToDate account and be signed in to use Expert AI. This also enables CME credit. The tool is accessible through both the desktop version and the UpToDate mobile app.

The second new tool is Image Guide+, a clinical decision support solution from our Stanson Health partners. Image Guide+ alerts and assists providers in selecting appropriate advanced imaging studies for low back, chest, and abdominal imaging.

Using information from the imaging order and relevant clinical record data, Image Guide+ recommends the most appropriate study and helps support payer prior authorization requirements. The tool will begin appearing for ambulatory imaging orders the week of April 8, with planned expansion to emergency department and inpatient workflows.
