Study Finds SureCare Medical Center a Top-Performing Provider

The quality of care provided by SureCare Medical Center is substantially higher and more economical than most other similar primary care facilities in the country, according to a research analysis conducted by Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center.  SureCare Medical Center has placed within the top 11 practices in the country and succeeded in transforming the industry by making high-quality, affordable healthcare a reality for patients.

SureCare Medical Center was among those facilities sampled in the study that considered 15,000 practices nationwide. Five percent of those practices performed in the top 25 percent on nationally-recognized measures of quality and the lowest 25 percent on medical costs per patient.

During comprehensive site visits, the study found that the top-performing practices had deeper relationships with patients, more effective and coordinated interactions with other local healthcare systems, and were organized to support teamwork.

“Our relationship with our patients has been nurtured over time to allow us to develop high levels of trust with each individual.  This trust is essential as we make quality-driven medical decisions for care and testing while providing the best value,” said Joe Garland, DO, SureCare Medical Center. “Our team is uniquely blessed to have a wide range of specialists who regularly come to our office.  Our close relationship with these specialists allows us keep more patient care in-house, and being a part of Premier Physician Network gives us direct access to the technology and tools to constantly monitor quality standards.”

The review found that SureCare Medical Center and others on the list established 10 standards of quality care:

  • High accessibility to the practice by patients
  • Physician adherence to quality guidelines
  • Close attention to patient feedback
  • Many tests and procedures done on-site
  • Active follow-up on patient care
  • High-performing staff
  • Open workstations
  • Balanced compensation
  • Investment in staff, equipment and technology

“We found un-sung physicians who are achieving something extraordinary—much better quality at a lower cost. This doesn’t mean that they are the only practices delivering top-notch care in a given community, but they share transferable features with other high-performing primary care practices nationwide,” said Arnold Milstein, MD, director of Stanford’s Clinical Excellence Research Center.

The nationwide study was funded by the newly-established Peterson Center on Healthcare.
