Epileptic seizures have symptoms that vary depending on where they come from in the brain. For example, temporal lobe epilepsy tends to have seizures where there's altered consciousness. The person is confused and they have difficulty speaking. They might have a warning, such as an aura like deja vu or hallucinations. Oftentimes, there are automatisms where the person uses their hands and they will pick or do something automatically with them. It can progress to shaking and grand mal symptoms, but it does not always do that.
