How can I avoid an atrial fibrillation (A Fib) episode?

There's not a lot that somebody can do to avoid atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is a recurring rhythm problem, it will happen again in somebody who has atrial fibrillation. We do use medications to reduce that likelihood. We ask them to avoid stimulant type medications or foods that can trigger atrial fibrillation. Things such as decongestants or even caffeine may play a role in triggering atrial fibrillation. So we recommend avoiding those types of things.
