What puts a person at risk for conditions that lead to a total shoulder replacement?

People at a higher risk for the need for a shoulder replacement would include manual laborers, people who work with their hands and arms regularly, particularly in occupations where they're doing a lot of overhead work. Sometimes, people at risk for the need for a total shoulder replacement is just bad luck. They fell and broke their humerus, they fell and tore their rotator cuff and it was not a fixable tear. Or sometimes, they're just predisposed to arthritis within their shoulder and it has nothing to do with their occupation or lifestyle.
