Appointment/Procedure Preparation

  • Initial visit: If you are coming for your first visit, keep in mind that it could take up to one hour depending on the doctor of therapist you are seeing.
  • Follow-up visit: Follow-up appointments vary in time, also depending on the doctor or therapist. These appointments are scheduled for either 15 or 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments with the psychologist or therapist are typically schedule in one hour sessions, with 45 to 50 minutes schedule for patient-psychologist/therapist interaction.
  • Psychological testing: Patients coming to our office for psychological testing will be schedule for an initial appointment to determine what type of testing is needed, and to obtain needed background and clinical information. When a patient is scheduled for testing, the appointment length could be one hour or two hours depending on what test is done. More than one testing appointment might be needed. Once a psychologist has the results of the testing, another appointment will be made to review the results. Parents of children 12 and younger who are referred for an assessment are usually seen without the child for the first appointment.

What to Expect

Once you have scheduled your appointment, we will mail you a Patient Registration packet, which includes registration and health history forms to complete prior to your appointment. These forms also are available to download online if you would like to fill them out in advance. You might also be asked to complete a Medical Records Release form that allows our office to obtain medical records from your previous doctors.
