Accessing My Family’s Medical Information

Your ability to access your family’s medical information varies according to several factors. Your physician will be able to explain authorization fully to you and your family.

To gain access to family members’ health information, you need to be authorized by your physician. Examples of situations that would warrant authorization include mental disability, dementia or other health or mental issues that could compromise a person’s judgment or ability to completely understand and make decisions about their health.

A parent has full access on MyChart to the medical records of their children under the age of 12 years.

Individuals 12 years and older are the only ones given access to their own health and medical records through MyChart.
