Cabbage Roll Casserole

  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef (ground round)
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 15-ounce can tomato sauce (use sauce with no added salt to reduce salt content)
  • Mrs. Dash or other no-salt seasoning


  1. Wash cabbage and remove damaged leaves. Cut cabbage head in quarters, then diagonally slice off the core. Cut into approximately 1-inch pieces. Put 1 inch of water into a large pot, bring it to boil, then add cabbage; cover to steam. Cook approximately 15 minutes to desired consistency.
  2. Brown ground round and drain.
  3. Add tomato sauce and seasoning, stir.
  4. Add cabbage and rice, stir.
