What We Build Next Depends on All of Us
By Roberto Colon, MD, chief medical officer, Premier Health
I want to speak to you not just as members of our medical staff, but as partners in shaping who we are becoming, especially as we continue to build Premier Health into something even stronger, more connected, and more forward-looking.
At the core of everything we do is our mission: We Care. We Teach. We Innovate. We Serve. These are not just words on a page. They are expectations we bring to life through our daily work and, importantly, through our level of engagement.
- We Care is what brings us to the bedside, the clinic, and the communities we serve. But caring also means taking ownership of the systems around us, helping redesign processes, improving quality, and ensuring that the care we deliver is the best it can be, not just for one patient, but for all.
- We Teach is where our academic mission becomes essential. This is not limited to traditional education. It is about fostering curiosity, mentoring the next generation, and creating an environment where learning is continuous. As we deepen our academic partnerships, each of you plays a role in building a true learning health system, one where knowledge is shared, challenged, and expanded every day.
- We Innovate reflects the reality of where healthcare is headed. New technologies, new care models, and new expectations are rapidly reshaping our environment. At Premier Health, innovation will only succeed if physicians and medical staff are actively engaged in shaping it. Your clinical insight is what ensures that innovation is practical, meaningful, and truly improves care.
- We Serve reminds us that our work is larger than ourselves. It is about our patients, our communities, and each other. Service also means stepping forward, bringing your voice, your ideas, and your leadership into the conversations that define our future.
I know how demanding your work already is. Engagement can feel like an added burden. But what I have seen, consistently, is that those who choose to get involved find greater meaning, influence, and connection. They help transform not just individual encounters, but entire systems.
This is an invitation to be part of the evolution of Premier Health. To engage, to lead, and to help us fully realize our mission in a way that is grounded in strong academic principles and driven by physician leadership.
What we build next will depend on all of us.
Thank you for what you do every day and for helping us shape what comes next.
