Upper Valley Medical Center Expands Endoscopy Services

Upper Valley Medical Center (UVMC) has opened its newly expanded, Endoscopy Center, enhancing access to advanced diagnostics and therapeutic procedures in a modern, patient-centered environment.

The redesigned space features a dedicated patient entrance, three state-of-the-art procedure rooms, and 13 flexible care bays (pre and post operative rooms). The expansion was thoughtfully designed to improve access, streamline workflows, and elevate both the patient and caregiver experience. These enhancements strengthen UVMC’s ability to deliver timely, coordinated, and high-quality endoscopic care close to home.

“The expansion of our Endoscopy Center represents a significant investment in the health of the communities we serve,” said Kevin Harlan, President of Upper Valley Medical Center. “This new space allows us to enhance access, improve efficiency, and provide an exceptional care experience for every patient who walks through our doors.”

The upgraded center also introduces advanced technology that supports safety, precision, and efficiency. The Monarch™ robotically assisted bronchoscopy system enables pulmonology specialists to navigate and access even the most difficult-to-reach areas of the lungs with greater accuracy. In addition, the department is equipped with the latest Steris Medivators scope cleaning washers and advanced drying cabinets, strengthening infection prevention efforts by reducing contamination risks and ensuring safe, reliable endoscope reprocessing.

“The addition of advanced technology and a purpose-built environment allow us to deliver the highest level of GI and pulmonary care,” said Deepak Agrawal, MD, chair of the Internal Medicine Institute and advanced gastroenterology specialist. “This expansion positions us to better serve patients today while advancing the capabilities of our program for the future.”

Patient care is supported by Premier Gastroenterology Specialists at Upper Valley Medical Center, including Dr. Gbeminiyi O. Samuel, Dr. Kenneth Reed; along with pulmonary and critical care expertise from Jennifer K. Clune, MD and her partners at Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants. Together, these teams bring specialized care closer to home, so patients can get the care they need without having to travel to other centers.

The expanded Endoscopy Center reflects Premier Health’s continued commitment to investing in innovative technology, improving patient access, and delivering exceptional care across the region.
