This fall, Miami Valley Hospital hosted the 11th Annual Trauma Survivors Celebration, honoring survivors with recognition from family, friends, staff, physicians, and caregivers. Additionally, the 6th Annual Premier Health Stroke Survivors Dinner celebrated stroke survivors and their journeys to recovery.

Workforce Development

The Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing marked its 125th anniversary with a permanent lobby display honoring more than 4,000 graduates from 1900 to 1986. The tribute features graduate names alongside a bronze nursing cap statue. The project was supported by the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation in collaboration with the School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Foundation Updates

The 15th annual Champions of Hope banquet celebrated individuals making a difference in the fight against cancer. The banquet highlights courage, dedication, and hope, bringing the community together to honor those making a lasting impact in cancer care. Proceeds from the event will support a new oncology boutique at Miami Valley Hospital South, providing enhanced care and comfort for patients. This year’s honorees were: Cancer Survivor: Catherine Campbell; Person of Inspiration: Satheesh Kathula, MD; Caregiver: Darinda Reis, MBA, RN; and Medical Professionals: Michael Guy, MD, and Thomas Heck, MD.

The Miami Valley Hospital Foundation was awarded a $192,000 grant from Montgomery County Alcohol (ADAMHS). The funding will support an addiction medicine fellow and a women’s health nurse navigator, focusing on substance use education during pregnancy and connecting patients to vital community resources.
