System News: Foundation Grants, New Medication Carousel, Hospital Award
Employee Engagement
Miami Valley Hospital received an award for Excellence in Life Support from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), an international nonprofit consortium of health care institutions, researchers, and industry partners. ELSO evaluates and recognizes centers that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to evidence-based processes and quality measures, staff training and continuing education, patient satisfaction, and ongoing clinical care. The designation goes into effect on January 1, 2026.
Patient Experience
For the first time in our organization’s history, all five hospitals within our system have earned recognition through the American Heart & Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke awards. This achievement speaks volumes about the consistency, excellence, and dedication to high-quality stroke care delivered across every corner of our network.
Workforce Development
Carousel, an advanced, cost-efficient, and reliable drug storage and retrieval system that reduces labor and space requirements when compared to static shelving.
Premier Health Foundations
Atrium Medical Center Foundation received a generous $50,000 donation from a Foundation board member in support of CareFlight Air and Mobile Services. This contribution will benefit the campaign to replace the oldest helicopter in Premier Health’s fleet—a 34-year-old aircraft—with the new state-of-the-art model.
A $75,000 grant from Cliffs will support the Healthy Housing initiative led by the Atrium Medical Center Foundation. Established in conjunction with the City of Middletown's Neighborhood Stabilization Program, the initiative focuses on providing affordable housing units to stabilize neighborhoods and reduce local health disparities.
Miami Valley Hospital Foundation was awarded a $25,000 grant from AbbVie to support the hospital’s inaugural Headache Medicine Fellowship. This funding will provide compensation for the 2025–2026 fellow and support educational travel and research. Offered in partnership with Premier Health’s Clinical Neuroscience Institute and Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine, the fellowship addresses the nationwide shortage of headache specialists by training physicians in the advanced diagnosis and treatment of headache and facial pain disorders
