Premier Occupational Health Expands Cancer Screening for First Responders
By Melissa Dillard, application analyst information technology, Fidelity Health Care
Premier Occupational Health will soon offer the Galleri multi-cancer early detection test to first responders throughout the Dayton region.
The blood test screens for more than 50 types of cancer by detecting DNA signals that may indicate cancer in the body, often before symptoms develop. While additional testing is required to confirm a diagnosis, Galleri can provide valuable information to help patients and their health care providers determine appropriate next steps for evaluation and care.
The service was added in response to interest from local fire departments, recognizing the occupational exposures many first responders encounter throughout their careers.
Premier Occupational Health plans to explore expanding access to Galleri testing for additional employers in the future.
