Dayton VA Medical Center to Deploy New Federal Electronic Health Record

Premier Pulse     May 2026

The Dayton VA Medical Center will deploy the new Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) on June 6, 2026, as part of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ nationwide effort to modernize its health information systems and improve care for Veterans.

The Federal EHR is the same commercial platform from Oracle Health currently used by the Department of War (DOW). It creates a single, standardized lifetime health record for Veterans, integrating health information from military service, VA care, other federal partners, and community providers. This unified record is designed to support more efficient, coordinated care across settings.

What This Means for Community Providers

As Dayton VA prepares for the June 2026 deployment, VA staff and providers are participating in extensive training and practice sessions. To accommodate this training, appointment availability at Dayton VA will be limited during the transition period.

While the VA will continue to address the health care needs of veterans, community providers may see an increase in referrals, particularly:

  • in the weeks leading up to June 6, 2026
  • immediately following the EHR deployment

This increase reflects the VA’s commitment to ensuring continuity of care for Veterans while its teams transition to the new system.
