Steve Young, MDWhat is your clinical specialty?
General cardiology

Where did you go to school?
Wright State University for my undergraduate degree in Chemistry, my MBA in healthcare and my Internal Medicine residency. I attended Ross University School of Medicine and Iowa Heart Center for cardiology fellowship.

What brought you to Premier Health?
The community I have built here. My family, friends, mentors, and people who have shaped much of my life have made Dayton home. Premier Health provided the backbone of my training as a physician and I am thankful to come back and provide care to this community that has given me so much.

Why did you choose medicine as a career?
So many reasons. Medicine gives me the privilege to wake up with the goal of making people’s lives better. I have been around medicine all my life and I still learn something new every day. It’s a complex beautiful ever evolving art that I get to use to help people.

Who are the people who influenced and/or mentored you?
Again, many people. One mentor that stands out with Premier Health is the late Dr. Chandra. His passion for using cardiology to improve patients’ lives is a large reason why I am a cardiologist. He profoundly improved the cardiac health of our community and will continue to do so as his teachings are passed down from everyone that had the honor to learn from him.

I can quote most episodes of The Office.

Baked ziti or maybe a really good steak.

Tiger! This is the only answer my niece will accept.

Where is your favorite vacation spot, and why?
In the middle of nowhere with some water and mountains because it’s so peaceful.
