The continued expansion of the Premier Health Cancer Institute's bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) therapy program represents a significant advancement in our ability to deliver complex, cutting-edge cancer care throughout the region.

Since launching BiTE therapy services in 2025, the program has continued to grow as new therapies have become available and clinical indications have expanded. Through September 2026, Premier Health has completed 17 BiTE therapy cases, establishing the infrastructure, expertise, and multidisciplinary processes required to safely administer these highly specialized treatments.

In July 2026, the Cancer Institute reached an important milestone by expanding BiTE maintenance dosing to all Premier Health infusion centers. This expansion broadens access for patients who require ongoing therapy, allowing eligible individuals to receive treatment closer to home while maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical oversight.

BiTE therapy is an innovative form of immunotherapy that redirects a patient's own T cells to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Unlike chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, BiTE therapy does not require T-cell collection or genetic modification. These therapies are increasingly being incorporated into the treatment of hematologic malignancies and require specialized monitoring for adverse events, including cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS).

The success of the program reflects extensive collaboration among hematology-oncology physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, infusion services, operational leaders, and Cancer Institute leadership. Together, these teams have developed the clinical pathways, training programs, monitoring protocols, and operational workflows necessary to safely provide increasingly sophisticated immunotherapies across the health system.

As additional BiTE therapies receive FDA approval, Premier Health is well-positioned to expand access to these treatments and strengthen its role as a regional leader in advanced cancer care.

Beyond individual patient outcomes, the BiTE program serves as a foundation for future growth in cellular therapy and complex oncology services. By investing in the people, processes, and infrastructure required to deliver these therapies, Premier Health is creating greater access to innovative treatment options while ensuring patients can receive high-quality cancer care within their own communities whenever possible.
