A Seat at the Table
By Keith Bricking, MD, chief clinical officer, Premier Health
The leaders we select today will shape the future of patient care, medical education, research and provider engagement across Premier Health. That is why I encourage physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), residents, fellows and Wright State University faculty members to participate in upcoming Institute Chair Candidate Vision Presentations.
Institute Chairs play a critical role in advancing our academic health system. Their leadership influences clinical strategy, quality outcomes, recruitment, education and physician and APP engagement. Given the impact of these positions, broad participation in the selection process is essential.
Institute Candidate Vision Presentations provide an opportunity to hear directly from prospective leaders. Beyond reviewing credentials and experience, these sessions offer insight into a candidate's leadership style, priorities and vision for the future.
During each presentation, candidates share their vision for the next three to five years, discussing opportunities, challenges and strategic priorities for their institute. Attendees gain valuable perspective on how candidates would advance patient care, strengthen academic partnerships, support providers and contribute to Premier Health's mission and culture.
Equally important, these presentations provide an opportunity to share your perspective. Following each session, attendees are invited to complete a feedback survey evaluating the candidate's qualifications, strengths and overall fit for the role.
Your feedback is a critical part of the decision-making process. As members of our medical staff, APP community, graduate medical education programs and academic faculty, you bring perspectives that extend beyond the interview process. Your input helps ensure we select leaders who align with our values and are well-positioned to guide their institutes into the future.
I encourage you to attend Candidate Vision Presentations when they are announced. Hearing directly from candidates and sharing your feedback is an important way to help shape Premier Health’s future. Dates, times and locations will be posted in physician lounges to make participation easy.
Selecting the right leaders is a shared responsibility. By participating in the process, you help us make informed decisions that strengthen our academic health system and support the caregivers, learners and communities we serve.
Thank you for taking a seat at the table and helping shape our future.
