COVID-19 and Flu Testing

Testing for COVID-19 and the flu plays an important role in determining effective treatment and prevention for these illnesses.

I Have Symptoms or Am Preparing for a Surgery or Procedure: Screening (nasopharyngeal) Testing

Screening (nasopharyngeal) testing enables medical providers to determine the proper course of treatment for individuals who are:

Screening (nasopharyngeal) testing is available at eleven locations in Southwest Ohio through Premier Health and CompuNet Clinical Laboratories. Please note:

  • A physician’s order is required at all locations. Many orders will be electronic that your physician will send to the testing location of your choice.
  • Testing is by appointment only at all locations except at OnMain (formerly Montgomery County Fairgrounds), located on Main St. across from Miami Valley Hospital.

To ensure an orderly process, it is vitally important that if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or the flu, first contact your family physician or primary care provider and work with your provider’s office to see if you meet certain criteria before you come to any of the collection sites. If you do not have a physician’s order, you will not be tested.

I Don't Have Symptoms But Want or Need to Be Tested

If you are asymptomatic, meaning you currently don’t have symptoms of COVID-19, but who want to be tested or rule out a diagnosis of COVID-19, Premier Health and CompuNet Laboratories offer screening testing if you don’t have symptoms of COVID-19 but may have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, as identified through contact tracing. A physician's order is required. Talk with your provider to determine what screening test is right for you.

Getting Test Results

CompuNet will collect and forward specimens to its core lab in Moraine for testing. Results are available in MyChart (for patients whose physician ordered the test in Epic) or through CompuNet’s patient portal, My Labs Now.

IgG Antibody Testing

Testing for antibodies (blood test) after COVID-19 passes can provide peace of mind regarding previous symptoms. Antibody testing (blood test) for COVID-19 can potentially tell a patient if they have had a past COVID-19 infection. Antibody is available through CompuNet. Learn more.
