COVID-19 Self-Pay Tests

You can schedule a COVID-19 self-pay test without a physician’s order using the CompuNet Direct service. You pay for your test with a credit or debit card. (Only tests with a doctor’s order may be billed to insurance.) Two options are available: the PCR test and the antigen test. The COVID IgG Antibody test, which is a blood test, is also available at all CompuNet patient service centers.

PCR Test

The PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test is the gold standard for accuracy in diagnosing COVID-19. Choose the PCR test:

  • When you have symptoms of COVID-19
  • For required documentation when you travel
  • To confirm results of a previous test
  • If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19

Results are generally available within a couple days. If you need your result for travel, let staff know when you arrive so they can expedite your test results.

Cost: $100, paid by credit or debit card

Antigen Test

This is a “rapid” test, so delivers faster results than the PCR test. Positive results are usually highly accurate, but negative results may need to be confirmed with a PCR test. Choose the antigen test:

  • When you have had symptoms for five days or less
  • If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19

Results are generally available within a couple of hours.

Cost: $60, paid by credit or debit card

Getting Test Results

CompuNet will collect and forward specimens to its core lab in Moraine for testing. Results are available in MyChart (for patients whose physician ordered the test in Epic) or through CompuNet’s patient portal, My Labs Now.

IgG Antibody Testing

Testing for antibodies (blood test) after COVID-19 passes can provide peace of mind regarding previous symptoms. Antibody testing (blood test) for COVID-19 can potentially tell a patient if they have had a past COVID-19 infection. Antibody testing is available through CompuNet. Learn more.
