Job Description

Premier Health is seeking an accomplished leader with a demonstrated ability to grow and elevate academic health platforms in their mission of clinical care, research, and education to serve as a Premier Health Institute – Division Chief.

This important leadership position requires a dynamic individual with a comprehensive understanding of the organizational mission for developing and overseeing innovative health care delivery models; sustaining excellence in clinical care; promoting and supporting educational endeavors; and collaborating with the Institute Chair, Division Chiefs, and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine department chair to organize research initiatives and promoting scholarly activity within the institute. Outstanding strategic communication and diplomacy skills are essential, and an ability to function well is vital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary and innovative leadership to the Institute, advancing the mission of Wright State University and Premier Health.
  • Promote and maintain standards of excellence in compliance with national standards, promoting strong departmental and institute performance.
  • Stabilize and grow the physician workforce.
  • Provide the vision and leadership to foster superior clinical and educational programs within medicine as well as related disciplines.
  • Engage in communications across departments and institutes within the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and Premier Health.
  • Promote community health initiatives within the department & institute for the patient population served by the organization.
  • Partner with academic program directors to develop and implement structured teaching rotations that support educational objectives for medical students, residents, fellows and other learners.
  • Recruit, develop, and provide oversight for section chiefs.
  • Serve as the physician champion for clinical integration across the continuum of care.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers and staff.
  • Support institute meetings and forums, encouraging participation and perspectives from all members while ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Oversee and support hospital call schedules to ensure seamless clinical coverage.
  • Serve as a key partner in budgetary planning and fiscal management to promote financial sustainability.
  • Collaborate with respective director dyad partner to support operational management that optimizes practice efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Improve physician and provider engagement. Build relationships with referring physicians to support continuity of care.
  • Monitor and enhance provider productivity through data-driven strategies and performance evaluation.
  • Uphold and advance practice quality standards to ensure excellence in patient experience.
  • Provide oversight for advanced practice providers, ensuring adherence to standards of care, documentation accuracy, and professional accountability.
  • Oversee the practice call process to maintain reliable clinical support and responsiveness

Job Requirements

  • Education: M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification in area of specialty.
  • Experience: 3-5 years or more of leadership experience
  • Licensure: Active medical license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the recruitment, retention, and oversight of clinicians, educators, and researchers.
  • Outstanding reputation in clinical medicine.
  • Strong organizational, business, and financial acumen with the ability to bring scientific leadership and organizational innovation to the department.
