Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) in Dayton were named to Healthgrades’ list of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals.” They were the only two Dayton-area hospitals to receive the distinction. Miami Valley Hospital earned the recognition for a third year in a row.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio, for the second time, recognized all Premier Health maternity centers with a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. The Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care program evaluates hospitals on quality measures for vaginal and cesarean deliveries. To receive a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care designation, a hospital must also demonstrate cost-efficiency.

Premier Health’s Premier Healthy Living program was recognized by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio as a Gold Award winner for employee worksite wellness programs. The HBCO awards are given to employers who demonstrate a commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs.

Atrium Medical Center

The Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Services at Atrium Medical Center received the distinguished Center of the Year award from Healogics Inc. Only seven centers across the country received the award, out of nearly 700 that had the opportunity to qualify. In addition to being named Center of the Year for a geographical region, Healogics identified Atrium’s wound center as top-performing Center of the Year nationwide for 2017. 

Atrium received an “A” for patient safety in the Spring 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This is the second consecutive “A” that Atrium has received from Leapfrog for its safety efforts, and the hospital has scored a “B” or higher from the Leapfrog Group in each of its rankings for the past three years.

Good Samaritan Hospital

The cancer program at Good Samaritan Hospital has achieved full accreditation status from the Commission on Cancer. The Commission on Cancer, a program of the American College of Surgeons, recognizes cancer care programs for their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality, and multidisciplinary patient-centered care.

Miami Valley Hospital 

IBM Watson Health named Miami Valley Hospital as one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals. IBM Watson Health evaluated more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals as part of the study.

Becker's Healthcare also named Miami Valley Hospital to its list of “100 great hospitals in America.” Miami Valley Hospital was the only Dayton-area hospital recognized on the list.

Miami Valley Hospital South received the platinum Lifesaving Ambassador Club Award for 2017 from the Community Blood Center (CBC). Platinum status denotes 100 percent blood drive efficiency. Miami Valley Hospital was recognized as a gold level partner in the Lifesaving Ambassador’s Club, which represents 95 to 99 percent blood drive efficiency. Both sites host six blood drives each year.

Miami Valley Hospital has been selected to receive a 2018 Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award from the Ohio Hospital Association, reflecting the hospital’s leadership in environmental excellence. The Melvin Creeley Award recognizes hospitals and health systems that promote sound environmental practices through the implementation of energy efficiency programs, waste reduction strategies, recycling initiatives, and other activities to preserve the health of the planet for future generations.

Upper Valley Medical Center

The Troy Chamber of Commerce honored Upper Valley Medical Center with the 2018 Business Excellence Award in the large business category. The chamber’s Business Excellence awards recognize and honor businesses in Troy that have made a significant contribution to the overall good of the community.
