Good Samaritan Hospital (Closed in 2018) Celebrates 85 Years

DAYTON, Ohio (May 11, 2017) -  On Friday May 12, 2017, Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) will celebrate its 85th anniversary. In the late 1920s, business and community leaders of Dayton, Ohio promised that if the people of Dayton helped to raise the funds, they would help deliver a modern hospital that met the medical needs of the community. The people of Dayton responded, and on May 12, 1932, Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) opened and began its service to the community.

The story of Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018) extends throughout 85 years of constant change, continuous growth, and remarkable accomplishments. Through it all, Good Samaritan (closed in 2018) has remained dedicated to its mission, answering the call to serve during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

“Good Samaritan [closed in 2018] stands as a living monument to the spirit of Dayton— to the captains of industry who recognized a need and mobilized a community to achieve an unprecedented goal of raising $1 million, to the health care providers who laid the foundation for commitment and innovation, and to the Sisters of Charity who made it work and whose legacy of caring continues today,” stated Eloise Broner, president of Good Samaritan Hospital (closed in 2018).
